Kids In The Kitchen.

Oregon State Extension Food and Nutrition Program educators delivered programs to 854 families with 1,256 children 19 years of learning how to use kitchen equipment safely age and younger. In addition, the program reached 2,873 youth with nutrition education. Evaluations showed that a high percentage of the participants adopted practices they learned in the lessons. In one county, 95 percent reported better hand-washing practices, 60 percent tried new foods, and 80 percent learned how to use kitchen equipment safely. Nevada’s “Chefs for Kids” nutrition program taught children the importance of healthy food choices. The program reached more than 11,000 students. Follow-up evaluation showed 78% of participants understood the connection between healthy diets, exercise, energy and overall health.
