Prospective Students

We are very pleased that you are considering enrolling at University of Nevada, and particularly pleased that you are interested in our undergraduate program. The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Science offers undergraduate students exciting and exceptional educational opportunities.

Our faculty are dedicated to providing students excellent classroom and laboratory instruction, extensive hands-on experience with modern instrumentation, and one-on-one advising and attention from interested and dedicated faculty. In addition, we provide unique opportunities for students to participate in research on significant environmental, ecological, hydrological and resource management problems under the direct supervision of faculty who are recognized authorities in their fields of specialization. We encourage our majors to engage in research early in their academic career, continue it through the summers, and hope that your research experiences will be an important part of your academic endeavor throughout your undergraduate days.

Upon entering our program, you will be assigned a permanent faculty adviser whom you may consult anytime while you are a student at UNR. Questions regarding courses, prerequisites, and University policies can be addressed to your adviser. Career advising is a frequent subject of these sessions.

When you first arrive at the University, please come to the department office, 1000 Valley Road, Knudtsen Resource Center Building, Office 100, and speak to one of our office staff. They will assign you an adviser whom I hope you will seek out at your earliest convenience to introduce yourself. You may meet with your assigned adviser during her/his posted office hours.

If you have any questions regarding our program, you may contact us or the department staff by phone 775-784-4020 or drop by for a visit 1000 Valley Road, Knudtsen Resource Center Building, Office 100.

Information on any University course or other aspects of the academic program, or just general information about University of Nevada may be obtained at the University web page: http://www.unr.edu/.
