Join Us on a Tour

Our annual Field Tour will be held JUNE 27 and 28, 2007 out of Austin, Nevada. This year we will be touring the watersheds and discussing our long-term collaborative research on the stream and riparian ecosystems of the central Great Basin. We also will discuss our restoration efforts, including a new project to stabilize incising riparian meadow complexes. We will also tour and discuss our collaborative Joint Fire Sciences Program projects on changing fire regimes, increasing fuel loads and invasive species. The primary emphasis will be on Underdown Canyon where we have established a demonstration area on "Ecosystem Response to Watershed-Scale Burns in Great Basin Pinyon-Juniper Woodlands."

A detailed agenda will follow in late May. Please contact me if you would like additional information

Local motels include the Pony Canyon (775) 964-2605, the Lincoln (775) 964-2698, and the Mountain (775) 964-2471.  Campgrounds are available at Bob Scott Summit, Kingston Canyon and Big Creek Canyon.

Remember Austin has limited shopping (No Grocery Store) so buy your lunch and BBQ supplies before you arrive.

Hopefully, many of you will be able to join us!
