Research Interests

My research interests center on applied microeconomics with a special emphasis on econometric applications that value non-marketed goods.  Recent research efforts have examined the value of snow to snowboarders and skiers, forest fire impacts on hikers, valuing ancient forests in the Canadian Rockies, and valuing Scotland's forests to hikers.   Current efforts include valuing the impacts of Sudden Oak Death on property values in Marin County, California with Kent Kovacs, Tom Holmes and Susan Frankel,  examining the valuing of drinking, driving and risk of injury on OHV riders in North Carolina with Ya-wen Pang, Tom Holmes and Juan Marcos Gonzalez Caban, and testing how the accuracy of Mount Everest climbers perceptions of their individual risk of injury with Mara Thiene and Ricardo Scarpa.
