Project Description Project Personnel Vitis Resources Research Results

NSF Plant Genome Project

This project is funded by the NSF Plant Genome Program for four years (September, 2002 to August, 2006). It is part of an international effort to build resources for the International Grape Genome Community. Our particular efforts are focused on the improvement of abiotic stress tolerance (cold, drought and salinity) and wine quality. Systems Biology takes a holistic approach to plant function. It integrates genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics with bioinformatics. To learn more about this newly emerging field of science, see the June, 2002 issue of Plant Physiology.
