Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Sponsored jointly with the School of Medicine, but administered through the CABNR, this major provides a strong scientific education with emphasis on biochemistry and molecular biology. Classroom instruction, combined with laboratory and research work, makes this an exciting course of study. You can pursue scientific careers in a wide variety of fields including biotechnology, and the life, health, agricultural and medical sciences.
Students who hold a bachelor's degree and who have a background in the biological and/or physical sciences will be considered for this program. The nature of required course work and examinations will be determined by the student's faculty advisory committee.
Research fellowships are available on a competitive basis.
