CABNR Ambassadors 2006What is a Student Ambassador?

A student ambassador is an enrolled student at UNR who serves as a knowledgeable representative that provides information and services to the community about and for the college.

History

Recruitment for student ambassadors began in the Fall of 2001 in an effort to build greater community outreach. Since then, the ambassador program has trained numerous teams. The ambassadors have learned effective public relations within UNR and the surrounding community.

High School Recruitment

All members of the team are responsible for implementing student outreach services designed to help guide students from high school into college. Members are assigned to serve as the college's primary liaison to local high schools. As a liaison, the ambassador provides peer advising services for students during regular visits to the high school.

Matriculation Services

Ambassadors have been utilized to assist in counseling during peak registration and enrollment periods each semester.

Serving the Community

The ambassadors have participated in over 100 outreach and community events. They represent the college to the community during college nights, career fairs and at other informational programs. They assist as needed with the planning and implementation of special activities. The team is available to lead campus tours at the college and assist with other hospitality functions as well.
