Helpful Hints for New Students
- Go to freshman orientation and pay attention!
- Make sure you have your Student ID made and you receive a validation
sticker for the semester (obtained at the information desk inside the Jot Travis Student
Center).
- Obtain a
parking permit
if you plan on parking on campus.
- Charge up your Student ID with
Advantage Cash
for meals on campus - its like having a credit card.
- If you are planning on living on campus rent your dorm room (i.e.,
Residence Halls).
- Purchase an Ethernet card for your personal computer. This allows
Internet connects through UNR's system.
- If you want to workout at UNR's gym you will need to pay
Campus Recreation and Wellness fees.
- Don't buy books at the last minute! Lines can be as long as 1 hour the
first week of each semester, beat the rush.
- Get a
library
sticker for checking out books at all UNR branches.
- Set up your personal
UNR e-mail account. It's
free!
- Pay attention to the
Academic Calendar (due
dates, drop date, scholarship deadlines, payments).
