Major: Biochemistry
Year in School: Sophomore
High School: Silverado High School in Las Vegas Nevada
Hometown: Bright and Sunny Las Vegas

Clubs and Organizations:
My Freshman year here at UNR, I was involved in the Residence Hall Association as a representative for Nye Hall. This is my first year serving as a CABNR ambassador and it has been an exciting experience so far.

Jobs:
This past summer I held two jobs in Las Vegas. I worked at the Forum Shops in the Playboy store. Despite the shock value of the name, the store was quite tasteful and it was an overall fun place to spend the summer. I also worked at the Bechtel Nevada Corporation. I learned a lot about the business world and how life is after college. Prior to college, I coached gymnastics for about six years.

Interests:
When I am not studying or attempting to study, I love to surround myself with friends. I don’t think there is any better way than to spend your free time than to be laughing and having a good time with people you are close with. When I was growing up, I was constantly active. Whether it was gymnastics or track, I was always on the move. So it is just natural for me to stay active now. I LOVE to travel. When I get the free time, I love going back to India to visit my entire family. I also like to watch movies and eat an entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s just like any other girl.

Why UNR College of Agriculture Biotechnology and Natural Resources?
I came to UNR because when I visited Reno it felt just like a college town should feel. I graduated in Las Vegas and I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the sciences. UNLV didn’t have a well organized biochemistry program and I had heard that UNR had a great group of professors. My older brother graduated from UNR with a degree in biochemistry and I decided that if my brother loved it here I definitely would, too. I picked biochemistry because I wanted to be challenged throughout my four years and I have been very interested in science since I was a little girl. Biochemistry just seems like a perfect fit.

Favorite Quote: “Well behaved girls never made history.”

Favorite Ambassador Memory:
My favorite memory with the ambassadors was playing Pictionary with everyone our first night in Tahoe for retreat. I am a horrible at drawing and guessing but I get so competitive when it comes to games and sports. I made myself look so ridiculous with the random things I would blurt out of mouth. I don’t think I will ever forget that night.

Advice for New Students:
My advice is simple; take everyday as it comes. Don’t ever question your own ability to succeed because that is when you will most likely fail. Don’t forget to have fun, too!
