Major: Pre-Veterinary Sciences
Year in School: Sophomore
High School: Douglas High School
Hometown: Gardnerville, NV

Clubs and Organizations:
I’m in the Honors Program at UNR and I am a Student Ambassador for the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources

Jobs:
I work during the summers at Great Basin Equine Medicine and Surgery, Inc. in Gardnerville as a veterinary assistant. The majority of our patients are horses (as the name implies), but we also treat our fair share of cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats. Working at Great Basin Equine has really opened my eyes to the world of possibilities and opportunities that come with being a veterinarian.

Interests:
My absolute passion is horses and horseback riding; I’ve been riding and showing horses since childhood, and now I am starting to get interested in training horses and giving riding lessons. My other hobby is alpine skiing, which is really a great way to enjoy the winter. My newest hobby is scuba diving; right now I am in the process of getting my Open Water Diver certification. Other than that, I enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family.

Why UNR College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources?
UNR was really the best option for me because of the Millennium Scholarship and the opportunities it provides. I chose CABNR because this college provides the best classes and professors to help me get ready to apply to Vet School. My long term goal is to become a large animal surgeon.
