Degrees, Majors & Programs
As our understanding of the molecular basis of life increases, the fields of biochemistry
and molecular biology are rapidly expanding. From the science of DNA to the ethics
of genetic engineering, our program immerses students in the intricacies of this
fascinating scientific discipline.
Bachelor of Science
-
Biochemistry
- The major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology has been designed with sufficient
flexibility in upper division requirements to accommodate a wide variety of interests
ranging from biological chemistry to molecular biology and genetics. This major,
thus, provides the rigorous training necessary for successful entry to graduate
and professional programs in the medical and biological sciences.
Master's of Science
-
Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
- The Graduate Program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is an interdisciplinary
degree that consists of faculty and departments on two colleges: College of Agriculture,
Biotechnology and Natural Resources (CABNR) and the University School of Medicine
(USOM). Together, we offer a single course of study leading to the Master of Science
degree in Biochemistry. Our Graduate Program in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
provides top-tier training and boasts nationally renowned faculty members. The quality
of mentoring offered to each of our graduate students is of the highest caliber.
-
Biotechnology
- The Biotechnology BS/MS degree program trains students in modern aspects of molecular
biology with a particular emphasis on approaches used in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical
industries. The program provides students with an advanced scientific education
and prepares them scientifically for diverse careers in the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical
industries.
-
Cell & Molecular Biology
- A degree in CMB prepares students for careers in one of the most exciting areas
of science - the interface between biology, chemistry and physics. The development
of techniques, like genetic engineering, has brought an increasingly molecular focus
to the traditional scientific disciplines of chemistry, biology and the health sciences.
Cell and molecular biology are at this interdisciplinary crossroads. The CMB program
presents students to the chemistry of living organisms and the experimental techniques
that are used to probe the structures and functions of biologically important molecules.
Doctorate of Philosophy
-
Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
- The Graduate Program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is an intercollege
Biochemistry Doctoral Program that consists of faculty and departments on two colleges:
College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources (CABNR) and the University
School of Medicine (USOM). Together, we offer a single course of study leading to
the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biochemistry. Our Graduate Program in Biochemistry
& Molecular Biology provides top-tier training and boasts nationally renowned faculty
members. The quality of mentoring offered to each of our graduate students is of
